Magnificat Houses Hosts Community Health Fair in Partnership with the University of Houston…

Last week, Magnificat Houses had the joy of welcoming our residents, members, neighbors, and partners to a vibrant Community Health Fair—an event dedicated to promoting wellness, accessibility, and connection. In partnership with the University of Houston, we were able to bring much-needed health resources directly to the people we serve.

One of the most impactful services offered came from UH Health, where guests received free on-site eye exams. This opportunity allowed many to take an important step toward better vision and overall health, something that can often be overlooked or out of reach.

We were also honored to host an incredible lineup of health and wellness partners, each offering essential screenings, education, and support. Organizations in attendance included Memorial Hermann, Relentless Medical Group, SCAN Medicare Advantage, The Harris Center for Mental Health & IDD, AAMA Harris County Public Health – Health Prevention & Coordinated Care Team.

Their presence helped ensure that our attendees had access to a wide range of services – from mental health resources, preventive care, and health education to aging support and community health outreach.

Beyond wellness services, the fair also featured practical support that our community deeply appreciates. Attendees were able to pick up free clothing, including brand-new socks, and enjoy a variety of fun food options that added to the festive atmosphere.

The energy was joyful, welcoming, and engaging—proof that when community partners come together, meaningful change can happen. Thanks to all who participated, volunteered, and served, the event was a great time, a great turnout, and a powerful way to advocate for accessible health care for all.

Magnificat Houses remains committed to providing wraparound care and essential services, and events like this remind us how much we can accomplish when we do it together.
