Roots of Kindness: The Urban Foresters Give Back to Magnificat Houses

Urban

There is something profoundly grounding about working with the earth, but on a recent Friday, the team at The Urban Foresters took that connection to a whole new level. Shifting focus from commercial projects to community care, 60 of their crew members volunteered and spent eight hours transforming the grounds of Magnificat Houses, proving that a little care and attention go a long way in nurturing the spirit of humanity.

Hard Work, Higher Ground

Over the course of the day crew members tackled:

  • Lumbering branches that had become safety hazards.
  • Dense overgrowth that obscured the visibility and collected debris
  • Unkept garden beds that were desperately in need of a professional touch.

By the time the sun began to set, our campus was noticeably safer and more beautiful. But the impact wasn’t just aesthetic; it was about reclaiming a space where some of our community’s most vulnerable residents seek refuge and restoration.

Living the Motto

Magnificat Houses has long admired The Urban Foresters’ unwavering commitment to their core values:

“Charity, Fortitude, Humility”

The streets of Midtown – Magnificat specifically – witnessed those values in action when, after the landscaping and heavy lifting, their team swapped chainsaws for spatulas, cooking up a taco lunch for 150 staff and clients. Breaking bread together allowed us to see the faces behind the mission and share a moment of genuine connection.

The True Growth

While they pride themselves on being experts in arboriculture, days like this remind us that one of the most important things we need to tend to are our relationships.

By the end of the day, the neighborhood looked different, but more importantly, it felt different. When we show up for one another with humility and a willing spirit, the entire community stands a little taller.
